Meet Denise

Cultivating Optimal Well-being with Food & Nutrition, It’s my life’s work.

I help tired, frustrated, chronically ill people optimize their health by teaching them not just what to eat but how to live well and THRIVE, so you can get back to living your life fully.

Welcome to my world of OPTIMAL WELL-BEING where I’ll teach you how Food and Nutrition aren’t just important, they’re your lifetime to taking back your health.

I talk a lot about the importance of what types of food you’re putting in your body, but also about what it means to live life in a way that supports your well-being, so you can create the healthiest version of you possible.

I grew up in Minnesota. Moved to Colorado. And put myself through college.

I landed a gig at a software consulting firm making good money and doing exactly what I went to school to do.

But it wasn’t my passion. Let’s be honest, I absolutely hated it!

It stressed me out, made me sick to my stomach, and truly sucked the life out of every part of my being.

So I up and walked away. No idea what I was going to do.

But it was definitely going to be something I was truly passionate about.

And with all the stress and angst left behind from a career that depleted me. It became so obvious.

It was right in front of me – it had always been there.

It’s how I lived my life and was what I wanted to do.

So I sent myself back to school and became an expert in the field of nutrition.

I was awarded a diploma as a Master Nutrition Therapist (MNT) from the Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver, CO, and then became Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition from the National Association of Nutrition Professionals.

Along with running my own private practice where I specialize in working with cancer patients, I’ve also worked with the Brain Balance Center in Highlands Ranch helping families of children with special needs through diet and nutrition.  I’ve also partnered with a functional medicine doctor, Dr. Gerard Guillory, who specializes in IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and worked for one of the leading naturopathic doctors specializing in oncology today, Dr. Nasha Winters.

All things said, this transition was the best decision of my life.

Do I love this stuff and enjoy helping others improve their health?

Absolutely, without a doubt, 100% WILDLY DETERMINED. Can’t stop me if you tried.

Follow Paleo Diet

I follow a (mostly) paleo diet – gluten free, dairy free, (90%) grain-free, lots of colorful veggies, minimal sweets, and only the highest quality of meats. That means happy cows out eating grass, soaking up the sun.  Pasture raised chickens eating bugs and living the dream.  And wild caught seafood swimming in the vast ocean like fish are meant to do.

5 o’clock Club

I’m part of the 5 o’clock club. I start my day at 5 AM.  First up, a good workout – pilates, barre, yoga, cardio interval training, boot camp, you name it, I’ve done it.

Most About Minnesota

3 things I don’t miss the most about Minnesota – the humidity, the mosquito’s (aka the state bird), or how my nostrils would stick together during the earth shatteringly bitter cold winters.

Curse at Times

I’ve been known to curse at times. What can I say, I’m the youngest of six, including 3 older brothers so I developed a bit of a potty mouth.

Fairly Athletic

I’m fairly athletic but I’m terrible at tennis. Seriously, don’t ask me to join you on the court otherwise your game will consist of watching me jump the fence to fetch balls I hit like I was up to bat on the softball field.

Denver, Colorado

I live in Denver, Colorado now but I work with clients all around the country via telephone, Skype, and Facetime.

Love to Read

I love to read and am a bit of a freak when it comes to my books. Don’t even think of trying to move my books around or ask to borrow one; I’d gladly buy you your own copy before I’d ever lend you one of mine.

Favorite Childhood Memory

Favorite childhood memory – going strawberry picking with my mom every summer. This is how I pick strawberries – One for me, one for the bucket, another one for me, I guess another one for the bucket, yay another one for me, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Favorite Person

Favorite person – without a doubt, hands down, no questions asked, JIMMY FALLON.  Thank you Jimmy for making me laugh every day.  You truly are a gift to us all, and I cherish the laughter you bring into my life as such great medicine!
